Babysits does not screen signed up parents, babysitters, childminders or childminder agencies, but we do regularly check for unwanted content. If we hear about an unreliable user, we will immediately remove their account from our platform. Furthermore, as we don't screen our users, please be aware that you are responsible for interviewing potential candidates and ultimately making a selection.
To minimize your risk and to ensure your family's safety, we recommend that parents meet potential babysitters before inviting them to babysit their children. Moreover, parents are advised to check babysitters' references and reviews to make the best choice. For more information, visit our tips for parents page.
For babysitters, we also recommend that you meet the parents before agreeing to babysit their children. For your own safety, suggest to the parent that you meet in a public area and bring someone along with you. For more information, visit our tips for babysitters page.
We strongly recommend that users communicate via the Babysits messaging service until they are comfortable enough with, and trust the other user, to exchange contact information and communicate externally to Babysits. Visit our trust & safety page for more information.
If your child requires a lot of attention and care, you can expect to pay a higher rate than usual. Keep in mind that you will also have to pay your babysitter more for looking after multiple children as this will require more effort and energy on behalf of the babysitter.
You can pay a secondary school student, who babysits in the evening, a fixed amount per night or an hourly rate. After midnight, you can arrange to pay a double rate, or a fixed amount for the whole night if the babysitter is staying over until the morning. How much you should pay depends on the age and experience of the babysitter, whether the children are already in bed when the babysitter arrives, etc. We advise you to sort out the payment details before the babysitter starts babysitting for the first time so that you are both aware of what can be expected.
When arranging the hourly rate, you also need to consider the age of the babysitter. For instance, a 21 year old student would expect a higher rate than a 15 year old student would. Keep in mind that the minimum wage also varies between these ages. To determine an hourly rate for your babysitter, you can base the amount on the national minimum wage. However, if you hire a registered childminder or nanny, then you must pay the childminder at least the gross minimum wage.
A childminder or nanny can decide themselves on how much they will charge you. Parents in some countries are also eligible for a subsidy based on the maximum hourly rate.
We do our utmost to try to ensure that the users that you send a message to will respond to you. However, despite our best efforts, not everyone will respond to all of the messages that they receive. Therefore, we display every user's "average response time" and "percentage of answered messages" on their profile so that you can have an indication of their responsiveness.
First we notify the user of your message by SMS/push notification once it’s sent.
If the user hasn’t read the message after 5 days, we will automatically remind them of your message by email.
If the user has read the message, but has not answered after 2 days, then we will automatically remind them of your message by email.
You have the option to also send the user a reminder via the reaction page.
If the user has not logged into their account for a long period of time, we will automatically deactivate their profile.
You can see how long it usually takes a user to respond to messages on their profile page (when the data is known).
This platform is completely free for babysitters and childminders.
For parents and childminder agencies, we ask for a small fee to contact babysitters and/or childminders. In return we will send a free SMS, push notification and email notification to babysitters/childminders to notify them of your message. Also, when a babysitter/childminder sends you a message, we will notify you of it via SMS, push notification and email notification. This is intended to speed up communication between users. Furthermore, if you have found a babysitter or are no longer interested in our services, then you can cancel your premium account at anytime. You can reactivate it the next time that you need a babysitter, without deleting your entire profile.

Babysitters and childminders on Babysits do not have to pay us any commission and keep all of their earnings for themselves.
Yes, even after your premium account has expired, you can continue to reply to the conversations that you started with your premium account.
If you would like to cancel your premium account, you can easily do so on the account status page. Please be aware that when you cancel your premium account, a final payment collection might still take place. This is because we collect with a delay. For example, if your new month just started last week, it may be that the monthly fee for the month will still need to be collected. However, no new term will be charged.
If you have any days left on your premium account, you can of course still use the premium services for these remaining days after the cancellation of your premium account.

You can easily delete your account and/or deactivate your profile. To deactivate your profile, log in to your Babysits account and go to your profile page. Click on the “deactivate” button.
If you want to delete your entire account, log in to your Babysits account and go to the settings page. At the bottom of the page, click on the “delete my account” button. This will remove your profile from our platform and your premium account will also be deleted (if you have one).
To help other users on Babysits to find you more easily, we’ve made your active profile/job searchable. This means that your profile/job listing will also be included in search engines, like Google.
Don't worry, if you delete your profile from our platform, then it will also be removed from search engines. Please note that search engines do not update all changes to pages every day. It can sometimes take up to 4 weeks before your profile is entirely removed from search engines.
Babysits is an online marketplace that connects babysitters with parents; we are not an agency. This means that users are responsible for contacting and selecting the services of other users that match their needs. We make this possible for you by offering several features on our platform that aide users in finding a babysitter or babysitter job quickly and easily. For instance, our private messaging service allows users to contact each other directly through the platform, and our tips and intake form help to prepare users for the upcoming babysitting job.
Remember to check your phone and Babysits inbox regularly so that you can quickly respond to the parents that contact you. If you are contacted by a parent, we will also send you an email notification and an SMS (if you have filled out your phone number in your profile). It's that easy!
At Babysits, you are your own boss: choose which family you want to babysit for, how much you want to earn and when you want to babysit.
Remember to update your availability on your Babysits profile so that parents don't contact you to babysit at the times that you are unavailable!
We recommend that you use our private messaging service because we have incorporated many safety measures into the platform to keep your information secure. If you communicate with other users through an external messaging service, we cannot guarantee that your information will be kept secure. Hence by using alternative communication mediums, you will run a greater risk of fraud and phishing attempts.
At Babysits, we follow a Fair Use Policy. This means that we have imposed a limit on the number of messages that a user can send in order to prevent spam and any other misuse of the messaging service.
Our goal is to achieve a trustworthy community in which users only send messages to other users when they are actually interested in the proposed service. By limiting the amount of messages that users can send, our hope is also that users will send better quality messages.
A childminder is a person whose registered job is to take care of other people's children, often in her or his own home. Childminders often work alone or with no more than two other childminders or assistants. Different countries have different laws regarding childminding work. Check on your local government website on the rules surrounding childminding in your country.
Most often, if you want to become a childminder, you will first need to register at a childminder agency. Search for a childminder agency in your neighborhood and make an appointment to learn more about the steps that you will need to take in order to become a registered childminder.
